Under-employed assets of an organization

Over the past 10 years I have come to realize that the two most under-employed assets of an organization are:

1. The experience of the line people, that is essential for realistic operational planning

2. The creativity resident in the people, for innovative solutions to chronic problems.

Leaders must recognize this opportunity.

On their part, leaders should identify processes that have high ‘capability’; and allow line people to do their own operational planning on these processes only.

For tapping the creativity resident in their employees, leaders should identify areas of concern; and encourage a mix of employees to participate in Innovation Labs. Familiarity with the area of concern can be an asset.

I believe tapping these two underemployed assets can deliver breakthrough improvement and innovation results.
