Why are graduate students not finding jobs?
The problem of students not finding jobs has become an epidemic. This can fracture the fabric of families. The national consequence can be grave.
There appears to be a major disconnect between the skills industry require and the competencies being taught at colleges. To put it simply, colleges focus on logical left brain skills; on the other hand, industry requires creative right brain skills in combination with left brain ones.
What are the other content disconnects? Also, what can colleges do to help their graduates to find jobs?
The reasons are many, who should take the blame is like which mouse will risk to bell the cat situvation in India. I agree on the views of major disconnect between the skills industry require and the competencies being taught at colleges. However an engineer always love to do a white colour job rather than his core engineering. Every one like to get back the ROI rather than increasing knowledge and skills.
Industry wants experience when students don’t have any. So the right thing to do is to find entry level jobs to gain experience (not to earn money). Then the more you gain experience, the more chance you have to get a good job. But for the first couple of years do not think to get a great position and money unless you don’t have your own business. You can look for an enrty level position through CareerJet web site. I personally found my first job from there, then after two years I found my current Online Marketing Managaement position again from CareerJet.
